For each grade level there will be a tryout consisting of basic skill drills and scrimmaging. Renton Select Basketball staff and coaches will evaluate each student-athlete during try-outs. Following the tryout, the Renton Select Basketball staff and grade level coaches will work collaboratively to select the team(s) and families will be notified via e-mail if their student-athlete was or was not selected to a team within 48 hours. Each student-athlete must tryout at their grade level. If a student-athlete has talent that exceeds their grade level, the placement will be at the discretion of the Renton Select board. If a team is not offered at a grade level and a student-athlete possesses the ability, the Renton Select board will make the determination if the student-athlete is able to play above grade level.
How many teams are there? How many student-athletes per team? How are teams classified?
The number of teams will be dependent upon the number of student-athletes that tryout and are selected to a team per grade level.
